What Are Coyotes

The coyote is a wild member of the dog family that is characterized by their pointy ears, slender muzzle, and bushy tail. This medium-sized mammal resembles a wolf or German shepherd and can be found all across Canada. This animal has greyish-brown fur and adults typically weigh between 25-25 pounds, sometimes larger.

Coyotes in urban areas create conflict for residents, especially pet owners. Coyotes thrive in urban areas, as they have no natural predators, which leads them to believe that they are at the top of the food chain. Animal Damage Control offers the most sophisticated and humane coyote control management program in Canada.

When to Consider Humane Coyote Relocation

When adult and baby coyotes are living in rural areas, they have to deal with larger predators such as wolves, bears, and eagles. However, when they make their way into urban areas, they have very few predators which makes them feel superior in their new environment. If they are frequently being spotted in neighborhoods or parks and showing no signs of intimidation towards humans or pets, then it may be time to consider calling a coyote control company.

How We Will Solve Your Coyote Problems

Coyotes are much more likely to become aggressive with a pet rather than the pet’s handler. So, by using a trained service dog to simulate a pet on a leash, we can draw aggressive coyotes in to our handlers, and utilize not lethal deterrents such as paintball marker gun or air horn to re-educate coyotes to avoid pets and their handlers along public pathways or in any space used by local residents. As well, service dogs are able to detect coyote activity in around dens in pubic spaces. If there is a den in a location which will surely cause conflict, a service dog can sniff out and “mark” the den, often causing the coyotes to move den locations and therefore avoid future conflict. This reaction to the dog is much stronger than to a person, so the coyote control result is achieved passively.

There is a growing demand for coyote control in urban areas, as pet owners are concerned for the safety of their loved ones. Animal Damage Control proudly offers coyote removal services all across Canada.
